Why We Love This Watch

A great sports dress watch needs to do two things very well: Be a refined and good looking watch suitable for business attire and smart occasions, while also being a robust timepiece for leisure activities, which should include excellent water resistance, strong lume, scratch resistance, and shock protection, with dimensions that don't get in the way of an active lifestyle.

The good looks of this orange Direnzo DRZ07 Universo include a gorgeous sunburst dial that can play with the light, and a subtle gradual change from a darker outer rim to a more vibrant center of the dial that is nicely accented by the dish shape of the dial, one of Direnzo's design language trademarks. Little touches like how the lollipop on the second hand passes precisely over the center of the date window, and the lume on the crown echoing the minor hour markers on the dial, help set this watch apart.

Of particular note is the 5 link jubilee-style bracelet, which we think looks very classy with some great curves on the individual links, and a nice mix of brushed and polished finishes that are echoed on the case. The clasp features a tool-less adjustment system where micro-adjustments can be made at the touch of a button, and with the downward curved lugs and female end links, we think this bracelet should work well for wrist sizes from approximately 5.6 inches (14.3cm) to 7.5 inches (19.25cm.)

Equally at home on the beach as well as in the boardroom, the Direnzo DRZ-07 features 100 meters of water resistance, the same as many dive watches, a clear and easy to read dial with a generous application of Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 lume, a 316L marine grade stainless steel case that has been finished with an 800 Vickers scratch resistant coating, scratch resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, and an Incabloc shock protection system installed on the Swiss SW200 elaboré grade high beat automatic mechanical movement.
